Description and Objectives
This Master's degree provides comprehensive and updated training in the field of ecology and related disciplines. It involves acquiring a solid understanding of the conceptual foundations, methodological techniques, and instrumental tools of the discipline, as well as its areas of application (both technical and scientific) and current issues and challenges.
From an academic perspective, the objective of this Master is the advanced training of ecologists capable of analyzing and interpreting natural processes and their interaction with society. To this end, it is necessary to generate a solid theoretical training, complemented by an abundant and varied practical training, in the field, in the laboratory, in statistical analysis and/or in companies and external organizations.
From an employment-oriented point of view, this Master is conceived as a program for the training of technicians for work in the administration and private enterprise, as well as for researchers. This spirit has governed the implementation of the degree since the initial application in 2006 and this has also been certified by the success of all the editions of this Master, since its inception in 2008, which confirms the success and validity of the model.
This Master's Degree consists of 90 ECTS credits (60 in the first year and 30 in the second year). They represent a total of approximately 900 classroom hours (theoretical, practical, seminars, laboratories, field), and another 1300 hours of non-classroom work.

Professional Training
According to this Master's own statistics, between 80-86% of the graduates have found related jobs within 3-6 months after completing it.
An important percentage of students continue their training by carrying out Doctoral Theses in different Research Centers, where they are very well received for their training (at least 20-25% of the graduates are currently carrying out their doctoral thesis in different centers). Likewise, the willingness of the companies with which the Master in Ecology has collaboration agreements for the realization of internships, allows us to confirm the validity of the profiles initially proposed from the scientific and professional fields.
In addition, both at UAM and UCM there are actions and programs aimed at the support and professional orientation of students channeled through the Employment Guidance Office (UAM) and the Employment Guidance and Information Center (UCM).
