Description and Objectives
The Master's Degree in Economic Development and Public Policies (MDEYPP) is part of the field of Economic and Business Sciences and aims to train experts in the analysis of economic growth and development, as well as public policies in the Public Sector.
The Master's program is delivered over one academic year and is organized into three quarters.
Teaching is structured into four training modules:
- Instrumental Foundations, which aims to expand and develop the basic knowledge of the students' university degree.
- Economic Development, which integrates subjects that delve into the analysis and research of economic development.
- Public Policies, which deepens the knowledge and research of public economics in relation to economic development.
- Master's Thesis, the result of applying the knowledge acquired in the Master's program to the analysis of a specific work topic.
The training is complemented with specific lectures given by guest professors and visits to experiences related to the objectives of the Master's program.
Erasmus students studying at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the UAM may be incorporated as part of the program.
Student profiles
The Master's Degree is aimed at graduates in Economics, although it may also be of interest to those trained in disciplines closely related to economic issues, such as business administration, studies related to foreign trade or design and implementation of public policies. However, knowledge of economics and quantitative techniques applied to the social sciences is required.
Non-Spanish-speaking students must demonstrate a knowledge of Spanish equivalent to at least B2 level and, in addition, a knowledge of English equivalent to at least B1 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
In all cases, applicants must have time available for the acquisition of the competencies related to face-to-face activities.
Professional Training
This Master's program delves into specific knowledge of the dynamics of economic development and public intervention, providing training that enables scientific research and professional performance in public and private institutions, such as international organizations, universities, research centers, study offices, NGOs, etc.
Similarly, the academic perspective underlying the program, which combines theoretical knowledge with concrete economic policies, aligns with the requirements of the increasingly necessary strategic vision in today's rapidly changing world.
