Annual enrolment
In the academic calendar for each academic year, approved by the University Governing Council, thre will be established the enrollment dates for every PhD student (except First Year students), that will match the beggining of the academic year: all PhD students must renew their enrollment each September.
IMPORTANT: In order to join any Transversal Training Activity during the 2024/2025 academic year, you must enroll in the activity at the same time as you enroll on the academic year. Instructions and further information on our website Actividades Transversales 2024-2025
FOR ALL DOCTORAL STUDENTS
- INCLUDING THOSE WHO ENROLLED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FEBRUARY 2025 FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025
- INCLUDING THOSE WHO HAVE FAILED THE ORDINARY EVALUATION 24-25 AND HAVE NOT YET BEEN EVALUATED IN THE EXTRAORDINARY SITTING*
In most cases (see exception below), enrollment for the SECOND YEAR and following (valid for the entire 2025-26 academic year, until September 2026) must be completed between September 16th and 31st, always within the limits established by the regulations about continuation and permanence of PhD studies (maximum deposit date that appears in Sigma).
Enrollment of 6th to 8th years Part Time will take place between 3rd and 12th October.
The non-formalization of the enrollment will lead to the definitive closing of the file of the PhD candidate
*If the candidate failed or missed the first sitting (oridnary) evaluation, they must also enroll on the next year. Fees for the next year will be paid only if the candidate passes their evaluation in the extraordinary sitting.
Enrollment exception only first semester, academic year 2025-26:
Exceptionally, PhD students with full-time dedication who enrolled in February 2023 their Third Year full-time or Sixth Year part-time, have to apply for a SIXTH HALF YEAR (semester) full-time or NINTH HALF YEAR (semester) part-time to be enrolled from 3rd to 12th October 2025:
In this case, half year enrollment must be requested before 3rd October via email (doctorado.gestion@uam.es ; subject semester enrollment 2025-26)
Enrollment exception, no need for enrollment in the academic year 2025-26:
There are exceptional situations in which there is no need for a new enrollment:
- Those who have completed the Fifth year full- time or Eighth year part-time.
- Those who started the deposit process before October 1st 2025.
- Those who are on sick or voluntary leave (they will enroll when their leave ends)
