Annual enrolment
In the academic calendar for the 2024-25 academic year, approved by the University Governing Council in December 2023, it was established that the academic calendar for enrollment of all PhD students (except First Year students) will match the academic year: all PhD students must renew their enrollment in September 2024.
FOR ALL DOCTORAL STUDENTS
- INCLUDING THOSE WHO ENROLLED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FEBRUARY 2024 FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-2024
- INCLUDING THOSE WHO HAVE FAILEDTHE ORDINARY EVALUATION 23-24 AND HAVE NOT YET BEEN EVALUATED IN THE EXTRAORDINARY SITTING*
Enrollment for the SECOND YEAR and following (valid for the entire 2024-25 academic year, until September 2025) must be completed between October 16th and 31st, always within the limits established by the regulations about continuation and permanence of PhD studies (maximum deposit date that appears in Sigma).
The non-formalization of the enrollment will lead to the definitive closing of the file of the PhD candidate
*If the candidate failed the first sitting (oridnary) evaluation, they must also enroll on the next year. Fees for the next year will be paid only if the candidate passes their evaluation in the extraordinary sitting.
Enrollment exception only first semester, academic year 2024-25:
Exceptionally, PhD students with full-time dedication who enrolled in February 2023 their Fourth Year full-time or Seventh Year part-time, can ask for a SIXTH HALF YEAR (semester) full-time or NINTH HALF YEAR (semester) part-time to be enrolled from 3rd to 11th October 2024:
In this case, half year enrollment must be requested by email (doctorado.gestion@uam.es; subject semester enrollment 2024-25)
Enrollment exception, no need for enrollment in the academic year 2024-25:
There are exceptional situations in which there is no need for a new enrollment:
- Those who have completed the Fifth year full- time or Eighth year part-time.
- Those who are going to deposit the thesis before September 30th 2024.
- Those who are on sick or voluntary leave (they will enroll when their leave ends)

- Doctoral Program in Molecular Biosciences, if your thesis is associated with the Department of Molecular Biology (Faculty of Sciences), you must register the TUTELA with code 6140x; If your admission is associated with the Department of Biochemistry (Faculty of Medicine), you must register the TUTELA with code 61601.
