Application for extension
Before the Maximum Deposit Date that can be seen on their Sigma file (generally four years after first enrollment for full-time, or seven years for part-time), PhD students can apply for one more year extension to the Academic Committee of the PhD Program.
Deadline for requesting extensions:
- Preferably, the extension must be requested together with the delivery of the annual report for the evaluation of the fourth year ("tutela") (or seventh for part-time dedication) or, in the event that there have been changes in dedication, together with the last annual report before the Maximum Deposit Date. PhD students must upload their application form (downloads) to Sigma platform.
- Only in the cases where it would be necessary to ask for the extension out of the ordinary period of evaluation, the doctoral students will send this request to the Doctoral School via email (doctorado.gestion@uam.es Subject: Solicitud de Prórroga), and they will continue the approval process.
Once the request has been resolved by the Academic Committee, the Sdministrative section of the Doctorate Schoolwill enter the information on the extension period in SIGMA so that it can be used for calculating the time for completion of the thesis and thus complete the enrolment process in additional tutorial courses.
