Accounting has been conquering more and more relevant spaces in society, as a discipline and social practice whose progress is crucial for the correct functioning of markets, the good management of companies and the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of organisations. In recent years, the repertoire of accounting theories and knowledge on financial reporting has grown with the need to develop non-financial and sustainability indicators, the spread of auditing in multiple areas, assurance, the expansion of internal control or the impact of new technologies on financial and non-financial reporting.
The activity and previous results of the research groups promoting the doctoral programme in Accounting ensure a doctoral training that places students in an outstanding position to pursue an academic or professional career in the best research, higher education and service centres.
The three promoting research groups are the following:
- ERGO Group, Department of Economics and Business Administration (Universidad de Burgos).
- HARMONIA Group, Department of Accounting (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid).
- Accounting Information Utility Group, Department of Financial Economics and Accounting (Universidad de Cádiz).
