The essential utility for combustion elemental analysis is that it provides a fast and simultaneously the total content of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and sulfur present in a variety of solid or liquid compounds from any Procession both as a synthesis origin natural (soil, biological samples, agricultural, etc..)

Basics of the technique

This elemental analysis is based upon the total oxidization of the simple by means of an instantaneous and complete combustion which transforms the sample into simple combustion gases (CO2, H2O, N2 and SO2). These effluents are transported by inert Helium to independent sensors based on infrared cells, each selectively quantifying CO2, H2O and SO2. This method assures fast, free interference measurements made at the very moment the combustion is proceding. Once measured, the gases are eliminated by simple chemical filters which allow the final assessment of N2 contents by differential thermo conductivity.



Quantitative determination of Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Sulphur contents of a wide variety solid or liquid samples of organic or inorganic nature: pharmaceuticals, polymers or plastics, agricultural products, soils,etc, independently of their aggregation state (solids, liquids or viscous). By this determination helps to confirm the structure of a compound besides being a criteria of purity.

Operation of the laboratory

General and specific conditions of the samples:

Samples must be dry to discard errors due to the presence of solvents and/or humidity
Samples must be as homogeneus as possible and in the case of solid samples, finely ground or crushed to facilitate combustion
Samples must not contain mercury
