Currículum Vitae

Soy doctor en Biología por la universidad pública Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) y actualmente soy Profesor Permanente Laboral en la misma institución. Mi objetivo es combinar la enseñanza y la transmisión del conocimiento con una investigación multidisciplinar que integre tanto metodologías innovadoras como enfoques clásicos. Mi labor investigadora se centra en cuatro grandes áreas: estudio de la diversidad, procesos de especiación y biogeografía de plantas vasculares y no vasculares mediante el uso de herramientas moleculares y análisis morfométricos; estudio de la composición, riqueza y diversidad de comunidades vegetales, con especial interés en los bosques de ribera en España; estudio de las interacciones planta-animal, incluyendo redes de polinización y el impacto de grandes herbívoros en la vegetación; y biología de la conservación de especies y hábitats. Además, participo y lidero pequeñas iniciativas de investigación centradas en aves mediante anillamiento científico.

En mi labor docente, participo en diferentes asignaturas de los Grados de Biología y Ciencias Ambientales (Geobotánica, Botánica, Evaluación de impacto ambiental) y en el máster de Biodiversidad de la UAM. Dirijo TFG y TFM centráis en las líneas anteriormente descritas así como iniciativas de los propios alumnos.

I hold a Ph.D. in Biology from the public university Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), where I am currently a Tenured Professor. My goal has always been to combine teaching and knowledge dissemination with multidisciplinary research that integrates both innovative methodologies and classical approaches. My research focuses on four main areas: studying the diversity, speciation processes, and biogeography of vascular and non-vascular plants using molecular tools; analyzing the composition, richness, and diversity of plant communities, with a special interest in riparian forests in Spain; exploring plant-animal interactions, including pollination networks and the impact of large herbivores on vegetation; and conservation biology of species and habitats. Additionally, I participate in and lead small research initiatives focused on birds by using scientific ringing.

In my teaching role, I contribute to various courses in the Biology and Environmental Sciences undergraduate programs (Geobotany, Botany, Environmental Impact Assessment), as well as in the Master’s program in Biodiversity at UAM. I also supervise undergraduate and master's theses (TFG and TFM) aligned with the research lines mentioned above, as well as student-led initiatives.
