Doctor en Psicología por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, donde soy en la actualidad Catedrático de Metodología de las Ciencias del Comportamiento. Mi actividad docente se ha desarrollado principalmente en el campo de la metodología de investigación. He impartido docencia en las asignaturas introductorias al análisis de datos en psicología durante más de 40 años, así como en asignaturas de posgrado, en másteres como el de psicología general sanitaria y de metodología de las ciencias del comportamiento, elaborando manuales docentes para todas ellas. He impartido cursos sobre meta-análisis en una docena de universidades.
Mi actividad investigadora se ha desarrollado en diversos campos de la psicología, especialmente en el estudio de la atención humana durante la primera parte de mi carrera, y en la metodología de investigación desde entonces. He publicado 115 artículos en revistas científicas y he dirigido una variedad de proyectos de investigación con financiación pública concedida en régimen competitivo, disponiendo de financiación de forma continuada durante 35 años. Soy socio fundador de la Sociedad Española de Psicología Experimental (SEPEX) y de la serie de conferencias temáticas sobre atención (RECA) y soy miembro de la European Society for Cognitive Psychology (ESCP), de la Psychonomic Society (PS), de la Asociación Española de Metodología de las Ciencias del Comportamiento AEMCCO) y de la European Association of Methodology (EAM).
