The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid (UAM) was founded in 1970 by the Professor Pedro Sánchez García, the director until his retirement in 2000. Afterwards, the Department has been directed by the Prof Antonio G. García (2000-2006) and the Prof Jesús Frías Iniesta (2006-2013). Since May of 2013, this task is performed by Prof Carlos F. Sánchez Ferrer.
The Department includes more tan 50 persons, among professors, researchers, pre- and postdoctoral fellows, students, technicians, and administrative staff. Since the beginning and during these years, the Department has been mainly focussed to the teaching and research with the maximun levels of excellence.
