Extraordinary Enrolment Regulations

Students who do not pass a subject during their first or second enrolment may apply to the Dean or Faculty Director for a third extraordinary enrolment if one of the following situations applies:

  • They have only not passed one subject in the two ordinary enrolments.
  • They have not passed two subjects in two ordinary enrolments but have passed at least 2/3 of the total credits for which they enrolled.
  • They have not passed more than two subjects in the two ordinary enrolments but have documentary evidence to show that a situation involving illness, work or any other exceptional circumstance has arisen and has affected academic performance.

Regulations on continuance as a student

To be able to continue studying a Bachelor’s Degree, it is necessary to have passed at least 25% of the credits for which a student has enrolled in each academic year.

To be able to continue studying a Postgraduate degree, it is necessary to have passed at least 50% of the credits for which a student has enrolled in each academic year.

For these purposes, enrolled credits do not include credits validated from previous studies nor those obtained for cultural, sporting, co-operation or student representation.

Students who fail to comply with these requirements may submit a continuance application to the Faculty Secretariat alleging that they are in one of the following situations:

a) Simultaneous study and work for a maximum of two academic years.
b) Prolonged illness for more than two months during term time.
c) Other exceptional circumstances which could have limited academic performance.

Applications should be accompanied by supporting documents.
