The Department of Physics of Materials carries out its main teaching activities in the Physical Sciences degree. It also teaches various subjects in Chemical, Environmental and Biological Sciences and it is involved in most of the degrees offered by the Faculty of Science. It also participates in different postgraduate studies, through Masters and Doctorate programmes offered by this University. There are currently two Masters programmes taught by the Department of Physics of Materials: “Masters in Photonics", which is part of the Official Postgraduate Programme in "Physics of Light and Matter" that depends exclusively on the Department of Physics of Materials, and the Interdepartmental Master in "Renewable Energy and Fuels for the Future".
Its research activities deal mainly with the study of optical, electrical and electronic properties of a wide range of materials.
