AIMS AND ACCESS:
The interuniversity UAM-UNED MSc in Agri-environmental and Agri-Food Sciences focuses on the fields of agrifood and the related environmental drivers. It is based on blended learning and encompasses the quantity and quality agri-food production, using scientifically valid and sustainable practises that protect the environment. The program leads to expertise in agriculture production, with knowledge and abilities to minimise the environmental impact of agri-systems. Also, to a better use and valorisation of different wastes and by-products from the food industry. All together, the student will be able to start a career as academics or to obtain jobs demanding an expert in the industry.
The combination of blended learning with some classroom and laboratory activities, gives the option to undertake this MSc course from every geographic location, minimising travel and making it compatible with other professional activities.
The main goals of this MSc are:
1. To gain expertise in agricultural systems, management of agri-chemicals and associated environmental risks, as well as the corresponding experimentation.
2. To develop qualified experts in the agri-environmental sector and sustainable food production.
This MSc complements BSc in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering (in Agronomy, Environment…), Food Sciences and Pharmacy and related degrees of Experimental Sciences. The admission of students from other degrees will be evaluated to ensure sufficient level of Chemistry and Biology to support their learning in agricultural production using environmentally friendly and efficient techniques. This evaluation may also occur in the case of students from Latin America, where the candidate holds a degree not directly transferable to Spain.
